S hellos to everyone !!!!!
I am going to put this article I am writing about Biotope Aquariums, is incomplete and still lacks but I've put it so you can see how it goes.
If you have any questions or suggestions this is the place to do it.
Let there, I hope you like it.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
- THE BIOTOPE AQUARIUM -
Biotope Aquarium call him that aims to show a specific ecosystem, combining the different species found in it s fish, plants, invertebrates, mollusks, etc.
Biotope Aquarium is the evolution of geographic commonly called Aquariums.
For a long time these were divided into large areas, such as Amazon, Asia, Africa, Oceania, Europe, etc and gathered species of the same country or island but often occupy ecological niches far apart from each other and highly differentiated and conditions of both water and habitat with many variants time.
With the opening of markets worldwide today is not difficult to access fish, plants and invertebrates from the same place or at least much closer.
Likewise thanks to the internet and other means of dissemination can know those places in situ by enthusiasts who share their experiences and discoveries.
Many fans, mostly on tours killifish capture the place of origin of these fish, usually show as observed after biotope.
In this aspect deserves special mention Heiko Bleher, who takes a lifetime dedicated to exploring the five continents in search of new species of all kinds of fish and sharing it with us through different publications.
All this helps us to pose the installation of a biotope of a particular river, lake or small watercourses having much information at our fingertips.
One of the challenges and satisfactions not mount a biotope aquarium is to recreate a particular area and try to imitate that place greater enjoyment of the selected species and advanced and neophyte observer.
The decoration plays an important role in the recreation of a biotope and we must try to approach the characteristics that define each: Aguas Claras, Sewage, Flood Zones, Acid Water Ponds, lakes, rapids, Mangrove Creeks, Cienagas , Pools, etc, the list is long and there are great differences between them, to know them better later shows several assemblies where you can see the environments of each site and the materials used in its elaboration.
The concidiones water are different in each place and is another aspect that we must consider if we want to maintain a biotope Black Rio in Brazil acid water is essential for the health and welfare of the chosen species, however if we imitate the great river delta of the Mekong as hardness rises significantly due to its proximity to the sea and tidal influence.
This combines multiple possibilities and each will require a different approach.
For example are very different conditions and the composition of the decoration for a small stream Thailandes covered litter, which for many Amazonian tributaries or the great African lakes.
In these aquariums what prevails is, without losing the "aesthetic" vision than an aquarium supposed to approach the aspect of habitat to imitate.
Often the ecological niche that inhabit our fish is not the pristine Aquarium we have in mind.
Probably it approaches more to that pond full of leaves, branches or decaying matter, with submerged here and there where there would believe finding fish, rice or where only a few inches tall water plants.
This does not mean that we should care for aquarium decoration instead, we should emphasize the characteristics of the biotope to imitate, accompanying it with a correct selection of species and the maintenance required for each case.
At other times we have different options within the same geographic location, for example in the Rift Valley in East Africa are large lakes and in one of them, Tanganyika are very different biotopes.
There are species that live in the rocky coast, others in sandy areas or intermediate sand - rock, others are pelagic, and there are even adapted to live in areas where thousands of snail shells swirl, making them their place of shelter and mating. These are the shell-dwelling fish and cichlid aquarium in the examples see one on them.
If we maintain a dwelling species of rock cliffs in one arena or vice versa or conchicola without them, we can never appreciate its authentic behavior, nor provide places where you can sit or exploit for swimming.
Each species is morphologically adapted to their environment through thousands of years of evolution and whether what we seek in the aquarium can see their behavior in a much more natural way, making its reproduction probably due to an appropriate environment. This makes the biotope aquariums in a window to nature and a point of attention for the observer.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
In the next chapter I will show the characteristics of different river systems.
Salu2 !!!
